On October 11, 1948, James E. Tully, Jr. opened the doors to his downtown Racine Abstract/Title Insurance office, which he named Fidelity Abstract Company. He was not a stranger to the Title Industry, in that his wife Merle was the daughter of Stanley Newbury, owner of Newbury Abstract Company of Kenosha. Mr. Tully’s new office on Wisconsin Avenue truly was modest in nature with one typewriter, one phone, and upstairs living quarters for his family of five. Jim built his business by providing prompt and accurate title insurance service to the local real estate market. His reputation of being an honest professional who always went the extra mile for his customers quickly spread throughout the county. Soon, the Racine, Kenosha and Walworth County real estate markets began to enjoy personal service from Jim as he hand delivered his work to customers daily.
In 1966, James’ son Dennis was eager to join his father after his service in the US Army. Dennis Tully used his technical intuition and strong work ethic to build upon his father’s foundation while turning Fidelity Title, Inc. into the region’s premier full-service title agency. He was always at the forefront of the electronic/computer age, so technical changes in the industry were seamless. Dennis realized the importance of providing personal service to western Racine and Kenosha Counties, so he made the decision to both reside and work in beautiful Burlington. Dennis and his wife Betty worked tirelessly at the old Pine street location while focusing on Closing Services for area lenders.
In 1991, Dennis Tully’s two sons Andrew and Patrick proudly joined the family business and expanded operations at the current Washington Street location. Then, in 2020 Andrew’s son James was welcomed as the fourth generation of Tully Family title professionals to serve the industry.
After nearly 75 years in business, the Tullys and staff of Fidelity Title, Inc. continue to provide professional “Prompt and Accurate” title and closing services to the region. We are honored to represent the local business community and we look forward to many more years of continued service.
